Before you invest in a dedicated web hosting server for your company, there are a few things you should take into consideration: is it really necessary? Are you technically apt? And how is the quality of the host?
First, does your website really require a dedicated server? Generally, these types of hosting accounts are only for the heaviest requirements, such as a large visitor base and large video and audio files. If you won’t have a very large online community, you might want to consider sticking with a shared or virtual private host.
Secondly, many web hosts may only had over the keys to a dedicated server, leaving the installation and configuration of Apache, PHP, etc up to you. Do you have Linux command line ability? Can you install and configure all these programs yourself, or do you have somebody who can?
Third, do your due diligence in reviewing the dedicated host first. Will they help you with technical problems if your site is down? Will they server your needs quickly and efficiently? Do a deep web search for comments about the host before signing up.
A dedicated web hosting provider may be what you need, but if you skip the above steps, you may find yourself out in the cold at the time when you need your site the most.
